Ruffles Scarf

Yarn: Colinette "Skye" Colour: Sahara

Source: Stash

Pattern: Designed by Amanda Blair Brown in Pam Allen's "Scarf Style"

Needles: 4.5mm Bamboo straights.

Started: 30th March '05

Finished: 5th April '05

Notes: I don't like bamboo! I don't like straights! A very ingenious construction, using short rows on only a few stitches. I experimented with knitting backwards on this project but found it just as quick to change the needles over each time. A ruffle scarf finished long before the "curly-whirly" scarf bug hit. The one and only time I have been in the forefront of fashion.

Buttonhole Bag #1

Yarn: "Ghost" 100% wool

Source: Yarn shop in Torino

Pattern: Mason-Dixon Blog

Needles: 9mm Addi circs (I hadn't had them long, I was using them at every opportunity.)

Started: Can't remember. My notebook says "Done in a minute". (As #1 son says, "Your own arrogance outwits you." Quite.)

Finished: See above.

Notes: Done in a minute. (Really.)

Linda's Vegan Fox

Yarn: Sirdar Eskimo (eyelash); Colinette Skye (100% wool variegated); Colinette Silky Chic

Source: Stash

Pattern: Knitty

Needles: 9mm Addi Circs

Started: 9th March '05

Finished: 18th March '05

Notes: Second one I made. Fun and easy, great for using up those bits of eyelash and fuzzy stuff that appear in the stash and you really have no idea what possessed you to buy it in the first place.

Blue Cushion

Yarn: Various - wool, ack-rylic, metalic, mohair

Source: Stash

Pattern: Vegas scarf, found by chance (which is only appropriate), on Jennifer's blog.

Needles: 9mm Addi Turbo circs

Started: 2nd March '05

Finished: 4th March '05

Notes: Cast on 34 stitches, followed the "pattern". To make it more practical, I really should have knitted this at a tighter gauge. It was great fun and finished in a minute.

Frost & Ice Shawl #1

Yarn: Rowan Kidsilk Haze
Cloud Shade 590, Lot 8746
3 x 25g balls

Source: Shipston Needlecraft

Needles: 4.5mm circs

Pattern: designed by Sharon Miller at Heirloom Knitting, part of the Simply Stunning Collection.

Started: 23rd January '05
Finished: 16th February '05.

Notes: I used smaller needles than the 5mm the pattern recommends. This is quite an easy knit - the pattern repeats are offset by a half each time. I like the stepped effect caused by the casting on at each pattern repeat. The shawl was left unblocked because I like it that way.

Kokopelli Bag

Yarn: Rowan Kid Classic (76% lambswool;26% kid mohair; 4% nylon)
140m/50g
Orange Shade 827, Lot 2935 x2
Beige Shade 816, Lot 970 x1

Source: Shipston Needlecraft

Needles: 9mm Addi Turbo circs

Pattern: designed by Teva Durham, published in Interweave Knits Summer 2003

Started: 1st February '05
Finished: 3rd February '05

Notes: knitted in the round using the two circs method. Short rows are employed to good effect. Use plenty of markers. I wasn't sure about the felting properties of this yarn because of the nylon content but it worked well. It's felted in an unusual way - in the tumble drier. It's quite a big bag and I might try felting it some more.

Ab Fab Throw

Yarn: Colinette. Various yarns

Source: Shipston Needlecraft

Pattern: Came with the kit

Needles: Size 7.5mm bamboo circs. (I think this is when I decided I really, really don't like bamboo needles.)

Started: 4th January '05.

Finished: 19th January '05

Notes: Patterns for four styles of throw are included in the kit. This is a very easy knit - the excitement comes from the variety of yarns used.
